El Bayda

Zakia "El Bayda" is like a fish swimming in an aquarium filled with dirty, polluted water—the working-class neighborhood in Casablanca where she lives. From the prostitute to the watchman, from the taxi driver to the corrupt police commissioner, no one escapes the moral decay. These are miscellaneous incidents, fragments, and snatches of life that come together to form a portrait that is simultaneously abstract and realistic.
